We are lucky enough to live near Bath, one of my favourite cities, and The Circus is one of my most loved spots. Inspired by the Roman Colosseum, it is a world famous piece of Georgian architecture, consisting of three curved terraces of Grade I listed townhouses that form a complete circle. It is often awash with clematis in the spring and roses in the summer, and much less busy than the nearby Royal Crescent.
This large canvas was painted in the studio after a walk around Bath on a spring day, sun shining on the gorgeous cream coloured Bath Stone.
